The book and accompanying exhibitions will feature original contributions, archives, and lived practices, with all final works fully credited to the artists.

What we are looking for

We invite works that reflect the richness of India’s vernacular identity, including but not limited to:

  • Typography & Scripts → explorations of regional scripts, multilingual lettering, hand-painted signs.
  • Colour & Pattern → palettes and motifs rooted in local traditions or contemporary reinterpretations.
  • Street Aesthetics → posters, hoardings, wall-paintings, matchboxes, packaging, and everyday design.
  • Photography & Documentation → capturing how vernacular branding appears in real environments.
  • Illustration & Mixed Media → artistic responses that reinterpret vernacular branding for today.
